Partnering

A few people have asked me if they could send with us gently used clothing or other items for the children and teens at Vera Lloyd when we depart in June for our ministry there, and I am excited about this idea!  On our visit, we learned there is Clothing Closet to keep donated clothing for youth that arrive with virtually nothing.  So, I contacted the Vera Lloyd campus director, Ray, and asked if we could bring donations with us as a way to allow our church home to partner in this new exciting ministry with us!  He was VERY excited to say the least.  I also asked him for a list of other campus needs in case anyone is interested in filling those, as well!  I am to be recieving that this week and will keep you updated.  But for now... VERA LLOYD CLOTHING DRIVE Youth Clothing in mint condition ( like new ) for ages 8-18. I personally know I can barely wear the heck out of something before I am ready to move on from it (a weakness, for sure) but what a greater way to use the things you

When

I just realized I have not posted our latest news: our moving dates!  Our first day as Vera Lloyd staffers is June 27 .  We will be pulling out of Salina on June 24 and moving in that Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26.  Our first two weeks will be training classes and observations of the other Family Teachers and then mid-July , we will be released into the Barton Home all on our own!  (Yikes!)  My last Sunday at FCC will be May 29 as we will be taking a vacation and packing for the remaining weeks until our departure from Salina.  Your prayers are much needed and very appreciated .

All

Sometimes I want comfort Sometimes I want ease Sometimes I forget That strength is on my knees. Sometimes I grow anxious Sometimes give in to fear Sometimes I lose sight Or choose not to hear. Sometimes I lose perspective Thinking only of myself Sometimes I don't remember How to define true wealth. Its at these times I know so well When I've elevated "ME" That I come to realize All You require of me:   ALL .

Home & Husband

Michael's recent blog post ( here ) includes a picture of the Barton Home, which is where we will be working and living at Vera Lloyd.  The inside was updated last year.  His post also includes words that encourage my heart about his excitement and prayer over this next season of our lives.

A Destination

Michael and I are very excited to share that we have accepted a job together as Family Teachers at Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Home and Family Services in Monticello, Arkansas!  You can visit Vera Lloyd's website here and get a tiny glimpse of the awesome ministry that exists on its campus.  We were able to visit the campus last Thursday and Friday and have been spending time in prayer individually and as a couple until last night when we came to the place where we both knew this truly is where God has been leading us the whole time.  There are so many questions to answer, so I thought I would format this post in a question/answer format.  Feel free to leave any unanswered questions as a comment!  And as always, take or leave the details! Q: Where is Monticello and how big is the town? A: Monticello is 1.5 hours South of Little Rock and 1.5 hours North of Louisiana.  It is a small college town (University of Arkansas @Monticello) of about 10,000 people situated in the beautiful, hi
